My Moisturiser Challenge

I am not ashamed to admit that I have been on the ultimate quest to find my perfect night cream and daily moisturiser for years. It scares me to think of how much I would have spent over the years just thinking about it. So about two years ago I set myself a personal challenge to find what I want for no more than £35.00. I am tired of spending money on products that don’t do what they say on the tin. But at the same time not compromising on the ingredients as I have dry/sensitive skin and need to avoid harsh chemicals in the process, otherwise the irritation kicks in and takes days to clear up. So this is what I love and cannot be without.

I found a great daily moisturiser called in transit skin defence SPF 30, by this works. For me an SPF is a must as it protects our skin from pollution as well as UVA & UVB vulnerability. If our skin is protected it can delay premature aging too. This moisturiser is suitable for all age groups and is conveniently packaged with a pump dispenser for travelling. The idea that you can just throw this into your bag is great and I really do like the simplicity of the packaging and the colours.

My other reason I was drawn to this moisturiser is because it contains botanicals such as Sunflower Oil, which is very rich in vitamin E and acts as antioxidant for our skin. Both  Blue Vine and Hyaluronic Acid help to keep our skin smooth, supple and hydrated. Then there is Echium Oil which has an amazing rare omega 3 fatty acid and helps to prevents inflammation. The benefits of this being that it is an anti inflammatory so perfect for dry and sensitive skin types as it helps to balance.

It is a white lotion and not chalky at all when applied to the skin. Sinks straight into the skin without feeling heavy and there is no scent to this moisturiser. So overall, it protects and hydrates in one! The RRP is £29.00 for 40ml.

Now my evening routine finishes off with my A’kin Purely Revitalising Firming Night Cream, which is an anti aging formular. This is packaged in a simple tub with a gold lid indicating that it is part of the anti aging range targeted to users from 40+ for more radiant and youthful looking skin.

Quality ingredients are used again for this product. It contains Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid to pump and smooth out wrinkles and increase skin elasticity. Vitamin C which brightens and helps to improve skin tone and pigmentation. Echium Oil as mentioned above and not to forget Camu Camu berry extract which is a ‘super food’ for the skin because it is a powerful antioxidant and contains 40 times more Vitamin C than an orange. So the skin can enjoy protection against free radicals generated by harmful UVA sunrays and indoor lighting.

The product itself has a very delicate scent which I love and the colour is cream with a very smooth texture. As it is a night cream you need to use a very small amount, but it does sink into the skin quickly. Not leaving a heavy layer on the face. As it is cold and the weather is unsettled I apply the cream after my A’kin Brightening Rosehip Oil with Vitamin C. In the morning I can genuinely feel that my face does look well rested and brighter.

The RRP for this 50ml pot is £28.50. So I think my mission has been accomplished. I have used both of these products for well over a year now and am very happy. The price, packaging and availability are brilliant. There are always offers around so I just stock up. Last Christmas I even gifted these creams to friends and family and they were very impressed with the results. But more so the creams do what they state and deliver brighter skin that is protected from harm. Just what I wanted!
